Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to seal your plastic pots before use?

No sealing is required our plastic pots are crafted to be both durable and low-maintenance. They’re ready to use straight out of the box, offering a hassle-free solution for stylish planting in any outdoor or indoor setting.

Do I need to seal your fibreglass pots before use?

While our fibreglass pots are designed to withstand Australian weather conditions and are UV-stabilized, we recommend applying a sealant before planting. This provides extra protection against water damage and UV exposure, helping to extend the pot's longevity.

Can I use this pot to grow edible herbs and vegetables in?

Yes, you can absolutely use our pots to grow edible herbs and vegetables. Our range is designed to provide a safe and suitable environment for your plants to thrive. Made with high-quality materials, these pots support healthy root growth and proper drainage, ensuring your herbs and vegetables grow strong and vibrant.

How do I know how much soil I need to fill my pot?

To figure out how much soil you need for your Tuscan Path pot, check the specifications section on the product page for its litre capacity. This will tell you the exact amount of soil required to fill the pot.

What materials do your plant pots come in?

Our Tuscan Path pots and planters in this range are made from lightweight fibreglass and lightweight plastic, with either a smooth textured or ribbed textured finish. The Harper range features lightweight fibreglass planters, while the Gavin range is crafted from lightweight plastic, both designed to be weather-resistant and easy to move around your garden, patio, or balcony.

How do I choose the right pot size for my plant?

As a guide, choose a Tuscan Path pot that’s 2–5 cm wider than your plant’s current nursery grower pot (up to around 10 cm for fast growers). For larger feature plants, our bigger fibreglass and plastic planters - such as the taller cylinders and drum planters - give roots room to establish and anchor the plant. You can also check the litre capacity in the product specifications on each pot page to make sure you’re selecting a size with enough soil volume for your plant.

Do your outdoor pots have drainage holes?

Yes. Pots in the Tuscan Path collection are designed for outdoor use and include a built-in drainage hole, with some plastic designs also featuring a removable plug for extra flexibility. This helps prevent waterlogging and supports healthy root growth. If you’re using your pot indoors, keep the drainage hole plugged (where applicable) and also sit the pot on a suitable tray to catch excess water and
protect your surfaces (as plug may allow some water through).

Which pots are best for full sun or coastal areas?

For sunny or coastal locations, both our lightweight fibreglass Harper planters and lightweight plastic Gavin pots are excellent options. They’re designed with a weather-resistant, UV-stable finish to cope with Australian conditions, including strong sun and changing temperatures. Lighter colours like white and soft neutrals are especially good in full sun, as they reflect more heat and help keep roots a
little cooler.

Can I use these pots and planters indoors?

Our pots are primarily designed as outdoor planters, with drainage holes and UV-stabilised finishes to handle the elements. They can be used indoors, but we recommend doing so carefully: place them on a protective tray and avoid areas where water runoff could damage flooring. Another option is to keep your plant in its nursery pot and sit it inside your Tuscan Path planter, so you can remove it for watering and let any excess drain away outside.

How often should I repot my plants?

Most plants are ready to repot every 12–24 months, or sooner if you notice roots circling the bottom of the pot or pushing up through the drainage hole. Move up one pot size at a time into a slightly wider Tuscan Path planter, refresh with quality potting mix, and gently loosen any congested roots. For large feature pots - like our tall cylinders or drum planters - you can often top-up or replace the top layer of
mix one year, then do a full repot the next.

What’s the best way to prevent root rot in outdoor pots?

To reduce the risk of root rot:

  • Always use Tuscan Path pots with their drainage hole unobstructed.
  • Position pots on a firm, level surface so excess water can escape freely.
  • Use a free-draining potting mix suited to your plant type.
  • Water deeply but allow the top few centimetres of mix to dry before watering again.
  • Avoid leaving pots sitting in pooled water for long periods, especially during cooler months.

These steps, combined with the built-in drainage design of our fibreglass and plastic pots, help keep roots healthy and your plants thriving.
