Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right size and finish of pebbles?

Tuscan Path landscaping pebbles span small through to extra large stone sizes, starting from around 6mm up to 80mm depending on the product. Smaller stones are ideal for pot toppers, tidy edging and detailed patterns. Medium stones suit most garden beds and pathways, while larger pebbles and mixes are great for dry creek beds, around water features and areas where you want strong texture from a distance. Natural and crushed finishes give a softer, organic look, while polished and high polish stones provide more colour depth and sheen.

How many bags of landscaping pebbles do I need?

The amount you need depends on the area size, pebble size and the depth you are aiming for. Individual product pages include a Pebbles Calculator that lets you enter your area and see how many bags are recommended at a set depth. As a guide, some products are calculated at around 35 mm depth, while larger mixed stones may be based on a depth of about 60 mm. It is a good idea to add a little extra for settling and any top ups over time.

Do landscaping pebbles help with drainage and weed control?

Most landscaping pebble products in this range are described as providing permanent coverage for a one time application and helping to restrain or hinder weed growth. When laid over a compacted base and, if desired, a suitable weed barrier, they reduce the amount of light reaching the soil, making it harder for weeds to establish. Pebbles also allow water to pass through while helping to reduce evaporation from the soil surface, supporting healthy moisture levels in garden beds.

Can I use landscaping pebbles in aquariums?

Some Tuscan Path landscaping pebbles are suitable for aquarium use when clearly stated on the packaging or product page, usually with advice to wash them before use. Others are marked as not suitable for aquariums. Always check the information for each specific product and rinse thoroughly before placing pebbles into any fish tank or water habitat.

Will Tuscan Path pebbles change colour over time?

Natural stones in the Tuscan Path range will naturally look lighter when dry and deeper in tone when wet.

You will also find finishes such as natural, polished, high-polished, crushed, waxed and frosted, plus coloured glass pebbles:

Some pebbles may have a light quarry dust on them when first laid - a quick rinse usually reveals their true colour.

Are the these pebbles food safe for outdoor cooking?

Tuscan Path Pebbles pebbles are not recommended in any food preparation such as barbecues or outdoor cooking, as they may have contain paraffin wax or paint on the outer coating.

Are these pebbles suitable for indoor and outdoor use?

All Tuscan Path pebbles have been made with materials and finishes, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
